Early Years Program

At MYIS, our Summer School is intentionally designed as a mixed-age learning environment, where children benefit from learning with and alongside peers at different stages of development. Mixed-age groupings allow younger children to learn through observation, older children to strengthen leadership and communication skills, and all children to experience a supportive, community-centered classroom.

Across all phases, we ensure a safe and caring adult–child ratio so every child receives close attention, emotional support, and individualized guidance throughout the day.

Each group is organized into developmental phases, ensuring children engage with materials, routines, and experiences that match their readiness and interests.

Early Years Schedule

Early Years Age Grouping

🌱 Phase 1 (0-2 years old) – Pre-T&C and T&C
For children turning 1 by September 1, 2026

Our youngest learners join a safe, nurturing, and sensory-rich environment that supports the earliest stages of exploration and independence. Through hands-on, play-based activities, children develop foundational thinking, communication, and self-management skills. Daily experiences include water and sand play, early art, movement, music, outdoor discovery, and connections with warm, responsive teachers.

Mixed-age learning supports natural peer modeling, encourages gentle leadership, and helps children build secure relationships within a small, caring community.

🌿 Phase 2 (2-4 years old) – Current J&C and P&U students
For children turning 3 by September 1, 2026

Phase 2 offers an inquiry-based, mixed-age learning community where children explore ideas, interests, and materials at their own developmental pace. Classrooms are organized into dynamic learning centers—with materials intentionally rotated to introduce novelty, challenge, and joyful discovery.

Children participate in meeting times, small-group provocations, outdoor play, and expressive arts. Mixed-age interactions promote empathy, collaboration, and flexible thinking as children learn to take on different roles within the classroom community.

🌳 Phase 3 (4–6 years old) – Current C&S and Excellence students
For children turning 5 by September 1, 2026

Phase 3 provides a playful yet developmentally advanced environment for early primary learners. Students engage in inquiry projects, skill-building games, expressive arts, outdoor challenges, and early literacy and numeracy experiences—all while enjoying the benefits of mixed-age collaboration.

Older students strengthen leadership and communication as they support younger peers; younger children take risks, ask questions, and build confidence in a community that celebrates shared learning and exploration.

Primary Years Program

Students will participate in a rotating schedule of Discovery experiences integrated throughout the school day. This approach gives each student the opportunity to explore a wide range of interests while learning alongside peers of similar age and developmental readiness.

Throughout the program, students will engage in a variety of hands-on experiences including cooking, Thai culture and language, athletics, theater, and visual arts. These activities are designed to foster creativity, collaboration, confidence, and curiosity while providing a balanced and joyful summer learning environment.

Students will be grouped into two classes based on age:

  • Lower Primary (Grades 1–2)
  • Upper Primary (Grades 3–5)
