Throughout the term, band students have been immersed in the study of two distinct musical genres: Broadway musical style, typically associated with indoor performances, and march music, traditionally performed in outdoor settings.
In this context, students have gained valuable experience in recognizing and adapting to the unique sonorities and interpretative nuances inherent to each style. Despite encountering identical musical notation, students have demonstrated the ability to discern and execute distinct interpretive approaches, effectively tailoring their performances to align with the specific stylistic and contextual demands of each genre. This process has significantly contributed to the development of their interpretative and technical skills, allowing them to approach each style with a deeper understanding of its distinctive characteristics.
