Dear Families,
We were so pleased to have such a great turnout at our final parent workshop for the Term, “Positive Discipline with Caty Romero”. Having parents and teachers learning side-by-side is truly the definition of a parent partnership, and we are grateful to have so many enthusiastic and open-minded learners in our parent community. In yesterday’s workshop, Caty shared important information about the Positive Discipline approach and left us with one big question to reflect on: Do the goals I have for my child in the future align with how I treat my child today? If I hope for my child to be an independent, courageous, flexible risk-taker in the future, then why am I solving all of their problems for them? If I hope for my child to be responsible in the future, then why do I take care of all of their belongings now? These are eye-opening questions that we are looking forward to learning more about as we dive deeper into the Positive Discipline approach at MYIS.
We would like to take this opportunity to extend a big thank you to our families for your patience, understanding and teamwork as we have moved together to navigate the challenges of COVID this term. Through many changes and bumps in the road, we have arrived at a place where we feel the entire community is working together for the best interest of the students. We wish you a wonderful and safe Songkran holiday, and request that you remain vigilant during your travels, avoiding crowded areas and staying masked as much as possible.
With deep gratitude,
Khanum, Mel & Tahireh
