Counseling at MYIS

Our counseling program is inclusive and available to every student, supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth. It is designed to foster a safe and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable seeking guidance and support. The counselor works alongside teachers and families to help students thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Counseling can help students overcome challenges such as:

  • Adjusting to a new school or environment
  • Managing stress, anxiety, or emotions
  • Building positive relationships and resolving conflicts
  • Developing study skills and healthy habits
  • Navigating personal or family challenges

Parent Workshops

Our Counselor hosts regular workshops designed to strengthen the partnership between home and school. These sessions help parents understand how we support students’ social, emotional, and academic growth, while also offering practical strategies to use at home.

Workshops cover a range of topics such as Positive Discipline, the Separation Program, etc.. Each session is an opportunity for parents to connect, ask questions, and learn how to best support their child’s development and well-being.

Positive Discipline

At MYIS, we follow the Positive Discipline approach—an educational philosophy that focuses on teaching, not punishing. Through kindness and firmness, students learn self-discipline, responsibility, empathy, and problem-solving skills.

In our classrooms, Positive Discipline is practiced through class jobs, agreements, and meetings that encourage collaboration, accountability, and respect. We believe every child is capable of leadership and positive choice-making when supported in an environment of belonging and significance.

College Counseling

Our College Counseling program supports Grade 9 and 10 students as they explore their interests, strengths, and future goals. Through self-discovery and guidance, students develop strong study habits and make informed choices about their academic paths.

Students are introduced to a variety of university and career options through school visits, university fairs, and guest presentations from institutions such as Bangkok University and Mahidol University. These experiences help them gain early insight into future opportunities and prepare for life beyond MYIS.
