Dear Families,
At MYIS our goal is to make sure that every aspect of our program goes through the process of reflection → action → consolidation. We are constantly growing and learning, and bringing new and progressive ideas to everything that we offer our students and families, always keeping the best interest of the children in mind.
This term we are looking closely at mealtimes, including how meals are prepared and presented, nutritional values and diverse offerings that are both healthy and tasty. As with everything we do, we aim to make sure that all stakeholders are involved in the process. We have invited a few parents who have experience and knowledge about food to help us with this inquiry into our school food services.
We are taking a multi-pronged approach to our food improvement, and have already begun looking at the menu, how to provide choice and options, how to redesign our kitchen spaces in a way that supports choice and efficiency, as well as training our kitchen staff.
Action Steps:
- On Wednesday we invited a school kitchen auditing company to campus to assess our kitchen services and structure and create a redesign which will be reviewed by our Food Services Team (FST).
- This week our parent committee has come to campus to observe mealtimes and taste-test the food.
- Next week our FST will be working on creative ways to redesign our menu and offer more healthy choices for our students.
Above all, our goal is to provide a balance of healthy food that can be enjoyed by our diverse student body. In order to learn more about how to satisfy the tastes of our students, please fill in this survey with some information about food your child likes to eat at home.
We would also like to thank K. Wii, Natalie and Paolo for the time and dedication they have already put in as members of our FST.
Kind regards,
PLT
