The PYP places student agency and action as priorities. At MYIS, students are not only engaging with computer technology such as coding but also with industrial tools used in woodwork. Students can explore both of these concepts organically as they engage in the Design Cycle to solve a range of problems. This design cycle encourages students to apply perseverance and commitment as they design possible solutions to problems or challenges. Through this process, students are encouraged to be growth-minded as making mistakes becomes inevitable when working to find successful solutions. Homeroom teachers collaborate with Design teachers to provide students with authentic opportunities using both the Design Technology space, the school Maker Spaces and homeroom classrooms.
