Over the past couple of months we have seen a great deal of progress made in the construction of our new facilities. In November the ground beams were completed along with initial plumbing work for the first floor bathrooms. We also installed two CCTV cameras at the site to allow the construction committee to remotely oversee the progress of work.
Over the Winter break concrete was poured covering the first floor of the main building. After the ground floor was completed it allowed us to see the size and scale of the new building which is quite impressive. During that same period the first floor columns were erected, excavation for our 25 meter swimming pool began and the steel sheet piles were installed.
Currently, the scaffolding for the second floor is being erected. We expect this to be completed by the end of January. The swimming pool subcontractor will begin working on the pool system within the next couple of weeks as well. One of the first steps will be to start laying the piping for the pool.
The new facilities are really beginning to take shape. Even the students have noticed the significant progress made since the end of Term 1, having an occasional look through the observation window that we installed on the sports field. Everyone is looking forward to using this new space next school year.
